yay! tato's wig arrived today. i guess shael's tinybear wig (i bought it from a DoA member) got here yesterday but i got a slip ._. so i'll have to pick it up some time.

I need to work on my posing, so I was browsing some stock photography on dA and found this pose which I wanted to draw Pandora in. Two birds, one stone yes? Loosely referenced and then tweaked to my liking. A big sketchy scribbly mess cause I really like it and want to ink and color it. Just need to figure out what kind of chair I want her in and what to do with that one arm. For now it's holding a glass of some sort of drink but I don't know if Pandora drinks sooo~ XD

i just took bailey for a walk.

granted, i walked like... a block, and not near any loose dogs, but i'm still pretty damn proud of myself. and bailey, proud of bailey too. she pulled on the leash a lot on the way out, but on the way back she was very well behaved n_n

anyways, the point of this entry is not the walk lol we walked around to the neighbors behind/diagonal us. it felt kind of ridiculous walking alllll the way around, along the road, when i could've just walked across our yards. but anyways.

aaron was saying they got a ton of ants too. he didn't see them but his wife was out in the garden and got swarmed x_x they didn't know what they were, so i explained all the stuff everybody else had told me. aaron was pretty nice. a hermit like me lol and chris & chris weren't home, but their older son was so i chatted with him for a bit. he said their living room window was COVERED in flying ants.

guh-ross.

but apparently i'm the only one who felt it necessary to get my house sprayed, because i haven't seen anybody else doing it. you would think a mass exodus of ants would raise a few alarms. i don't really care, because it's their problem, but if other people don't care then it gives the ants a place to live, meaning i'll have to deal with them again in the future :/

so yay. i met people, and was social. and bailey got some exercise, and some leash training. and i haven't seen anymore ants since the pest control guy left.

now i'm eating reese's pieces and drinking soda. gotta offset that exercise crap somehow, y'know.

Just a couple of shots. The fact that getting the focus of my 50mm spot on is nigh on impossible without faffing around with my tripod really isn't helping my emotardness right now. I should've just stuck with my 18-55mm and made life easier but damn that uber fastness of the 50...

so things are better now, after some psychotic hysterics which i've put under friends lock, regarding an alarming wave of carpenter ants, and the sudden discovery of a hornet nest over our garage.

the very friendly and mildly eccentric old man bug killer man showed up this morning and sprayed the bottom half of the house, and a 4-ft thick perimeter on the ground. it's just a pesticide so it won't hurt the flowers or grass, and is also safe for the pets. i watched a few ants writhe and die. gewd stuffs.

he explained that the large flying ants were females, and they lose their wings after they mate. after spraying down the house, there were a couple of wingless ones on the front walkway. so it was a good thing this got taken care of when it did. baby ants, no thanks.

then he knocked down the hornet nest (it was really small... like the size of a hackey sack) and stuck around for a bit, spraying any bees that showed up. there was one large one that we both assumed was the queen. it died. then there was an even larger one o____O consequently, it died as well.

he also poked around the yard looking for possible future or current ant nests. found one stump on the edge of our property that looked chewed up, but he tore it apart and it was void of ants.

then he left and said he'll be back later today to check up on the hornet situation. the nice thing was, it costed less than cori's parents said it would. they said like $250 and it ended up being only $165. ALSO nice is that cori got paid this morning, when usually he gets paid tonight.

so today is going well, aside from the fact that it's noon and i've already been awake for 5 hours, and went to bed like 10 hours ago.

i'm trying to decide what to do with the rest of my day... originally i was going to take a blanket and hang out on the beach with bailey for a while, free of bug worries. but today decided to not be like the past two days, and be like the few weeks before that where it was constantly cloudy and threatening to rain. it was 53ºF this morning. no beach for me, kthx.

i also decided to take one or two more days off from sprinkler duty, because of how wet it's been and also because it will probably rain at some point. although i kind of wish the sun would come back.

maybe i'll go take a nap x_x i apologize if anything i just wrote is actually gibberish.

All that and Inkali's head has been sent out to be faceupped, too - my boys are nearly finished! ♥

I'm bored of shooting my in garden and beyond fed up of my indoor set up. I'm going to try to build some form of 'mini' studio for the dolls in the garage... (since there's no room in the house) because I want to use some backdrops that are a bit more dynamic than swathes of black fabric. It'll probably consist of a 3 wooden panels with interchangeable backgrounds, which should be fun to build XD I just need to figure out sizes etc


Dorrie stuff aside after getting all those fab book recommendations on DA I er... ended up buying another Star Wars book <.< 'Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight' to be exact, to last me until Order 66 comes out in a week or two's time. I'm not quite sure what I think of it yet since I'm only a couple of chapters in but mhmm... here's hoping it's as good as the hype's made out.

I'm so looking forward to 'Order 66' it's pathetic, but Karen Traviss' books are just that damn good. I'm just wondering who she's going to kill off since she proved in 'True Colours' that she isn't afraid of royally fucking her characters over (Poor, poor Fi)...

eek!!

i got an email saying smith+noble is having a fall sale... free shipping until july 9th, and major discounts on various types of shades until august 20th. hawt damn! unfortunately, living in alaska, the free shipping doesn't apply :/ BUT saving 20% off each shade more than makes up for the increased shipping costs (UPS ground to alaska just kills). the shades i wanted to get only have crappy colors left ;o; so i had to settle for some different ones. but they're cheaper, and they're the colors i wanted.

also, i was poking around picking free swatches for their wood blinds (i want to get some for the french doors that will match the cupboards), and noticed that they had a "home decor" section. so i was curious and checked it out, and it has comforters and pillows. unfortunately the comforter i came up with was like $400, and the pillows i came up with for the living room were like $100 each. but i saved the designs, and ordered some free swatches of the materials i picked, and will just hold off on those for now. at least i can see how the fabric will look hehe

i decided to take a break from the sprinklers today. i did the parts of the yard that i didn't do very well yesterday, but the yard is getting so squishy x_x and the part of the yard that slopes is... dangerous lol one of these days i'm going to slip and become a mud monster. so i'm taking some time off to let the yard solidify a bit.

and i also redesigned most of my userpics (just the doll-specific ones). so that they're somewhat uniform and have my username on them. should i put the doll names on them as well?

Am still just as sick, in other news. My throat still hurts so bad I can barely swallow, and in addition I now have a relatively bad cough (have almost thrown up 'cause of coughing several times) and my nose is pretty much completely blocked. And there's still a fever that goes up and down constantly, headaches and general fatigue that makes me nearly collapse if I'm on my feet for too long.

I don't really know what to do. I guess my choices are either to go to the emergency doctor thingie tonight and hope and pray that they'll give me a sick leave out the week, at least, or go to work tomorrow like I'm supposed to and hope I don't die. Though seriously - how am I supposed to do my job, aka talking on the phone for 8 hours a day when I barely have a voice at all? Nngh.
